Custom laundry room cabinets: function and style by ROCHON
The laundry room is often the most overlooked room in the home, yet it is one of the most used. When laundry room storage is custom designed, everything changes: detergents have their place, laundry waiting to be washed no longer piles up, and the room finally becomes enjoyable to use on a daily basis. At Cuisines ROCHON, we design laundry room cabinets that fit your space, your habits, and your style.
Why invest in a custom laundry room cabinets
A standard laundry room often means a shelf above the washer and a hook behind the door. It works in the most minimal sense, but it does not really meet the needs of a Quebec family that handles multiple loads per week, stores household products, reusable bags, cleaning equipment, and sometimes seasonal clothing.
Custom laundry room cabinets offer a completely different experience. Every centimetre is used wisely. Tall cabinets maximize ceiling height. Soft-close drawers keep products out of children’s reach. Adjustable shelves adapt to bottles of different sizes. And the whole setup is designed to last and make your day-to-day easier.
ROCHON designs storage spaces that stand the test of time, with materials selected to resist humidity and heavy use.
Laundry room cabinets tailored to every layout
No two laundry rooms are alike. Some are narrow and located in a hallway. Others are integrated into a large multipurpose area with a mudroom or more. Some house a washer and dryer side by side, others stack them vertically. This is exactly where a custom designed plan makes the difference.
Our design team always starts with a thorough analysis of the space before proposing a plan. Exact measurements, plumbing and electrical constraints, usage habits, desired style: everything is considered to design laundry room cabinets that fit your exact reality.
Here is what custom work allows in concrete terms:
- Make use of every nook: dead corners, spaces above appliances, niches between walls and equipment
- Integrate appliances with matching fronts for a clean, harmonious result
- Add specific features: a retractable hanging rod, built-in laundry hampers, foldaway ironing surface, space for the vacuum or mop
- Choose the finish that blends with the rest of your home, whether streamlined, contemporary, or more traditional
What you can include in your project
A custom laundry room project can include (non-exhaustive list):
- Top and base cabinets with swinging or sliding doors
- Soft-close drawers and built-in organizers
- Countertop for folding, in laminate, quartz, or another material
- Integrated hanging rod, fixed or retractable
- Built-in laundry baskets with or without lids
- Space for a fold-down ironing board
- Open niches for everyday items
- Dedicated storage for the vacuum, mop, and cleaning accessories
- Integrated lighting under the upper cabinets
- Separation or integration of space for pets
Materials chosen for the room's environment
The laundry room is a demanding environment: humidity, occasional heat, steam. Our materials are selected accordingly. The panels resist changes in moisture, the hardware is selected for its strength, and the finishes are treated to make everyday care easier.
You do not have to choose between looks and durability. At ROCHON, both go hand in hand.
A look that aligns with your home
Your laundry room deserves as much attention as your kitchen or bathroom. Our laundry room cabinets come in a wide range of styles, tones, and finishes. Wood imitation, matte lacquer, two-tone, contemporary or classic: the design adapts to your vision, not the other way around.
Our past projects are a testament to this philosophy. Every custom laundry room we have delivered reflects the unique character of the family who uses it.

Mistakes to avoid when planning a laundry room
Many homeowners contact us after trying a DIY solution or store-bought cabinets. The issues are often the same: hard-to-reach spaces, materials that swell with humidity, counter heights that do not fit, or a cabinet door that blocks the washer door opening.
With a custom project, these pitfalls are eliminated from the design stage. Every detail is planned ahead: the swing path of doors, the shelf height relative to your most used products, the accessibility of everyday storage compared with occasional storage.
That is the difference between a space that works and a space that makes you feel frustrated.

Frequently asked questions about custom laundry room cabinets
How much does a custom laundry room cost at ROCHON?
The price of a custom laundry room project varies based on the size of the room, the materials selected, the number of modules, and the integrated features. Every project is unique, which is why ROCHON offers an initial consultation to assess your needs and present a detailed estimate. In general, investing in custom work costs less over the long term than frequently replacing ill-suited standard elements.
What timeline should you expect for fabrication and installation?
Once the design is approved and the contract is signed, production usually takes between 8 and 12 weeks, depending on the order book and project complexity. Installation itself is done in one day in most cases. ROCHON keeps you informed at every stage.
Can ROCHON work in a very small laundry room?
Absolutely. That is exactly what custom is made for. A small, well-designed laundry room can offer as much storage as a larger but poorly optimized space. The ROCHON team is used to working with constraints and knows how to make the most of every centimetre available, including hard-to-reach corners and atypical layouts.
Can you combine the laundry room with another space such as the mudroom or bathroom?
Yes, and it is an increasingly popular approach in Quebec homes. ROCHON has completed several projects that integrate the laundry room with an entry mudroom, an adjoining bathroom, or a multipurpose area. The design is then developed to ensure visual and functional continuity between spaces.
